How does atp generation in glycolysis and the krebs cycle?

    Oxygen is required. Glycolysis : glucose is converted to pyruvic acid with a net production of 2ATP molecules (a very low energy yield). Pyruvic acid is converted to carbon dioxide, water, and a further 36 ATP molecules from the Krebs cycle and electron transport chain (a high energy yield per glucose molecule).
