Explanation:

Ribosomes have three sites that serve as the binding site for tRNA. These sites are the aminoacyl (A) site, the peptidyl (P) site, and the exit (E) site. The A and P sites are contributed by both 30S and 50S ribosomal subunits in prokaryotes while the exit site is mainly present in the 50S ribosomal subunits in these organisms.

The AUG codon is positioned in P site during initiation of the protein synthesis since the initiator tRNA first binds to the P site only. On the other hand, the other incoming aminoacyl-tRNAs during the subsequent elongation stage bind first to the A site and then occupy the P and E sites. The uncharged tRNAs with no amino acid occupy E site from where they leave complex during elongation.
