Frequency of genotype MM in the given population = 0.4897

Frequency of genotype MN in the given population = 0.421

Frequency of genotype NN in the given population = 0.0893

    Frequency of allele M = 0.7002

    Frequency of allele N = 0.2998

    Explanation:

    Frequency of genotype MM in the given population = 4897 / 10000 = 0.4897

    Frequency of genotype MN in the given population = 4210 / 10000 = 0.421

    Frequency of genotype NN in the given population = 893 / 10000 = 0.0893

Frequency of allele M in the given population = total number of MM individuals x 2 + total number of MN individuals / 10000 x 2 =

    4897 x 2 + 4210 / 10000 x 2 = 9794 + 4210 / 20000 = 14004 / 20000 = 0.7002

This is because each individual with MM genotype has two copies of M alleles while the ones with MN genotype have one copy of M allele.

    Likewise, Frequency of allele N in the given population = total number of NN individuals x 2 + total number of MN individuals / 10000 x 2 = 893 x 2 + 4210 / 10000 x 2 = 5996 / 20000=0.2998

This is because each individual with an NN genotype has two copies of N alleles while the ones with MN genotype have one copy of the N allele.
