The basic definition for nucleus is the most important part of something
The nucleus of a cell is the organelle where the genetic information (DNA/RNA) is stored that controls the cell and where the nucleolus is contained and ribosomes are produced.
The nucleus of an atom is the center that contains the protons and neutrons
