The patient is also expecting a child, but the cells in the reproduction development are experiencing malfunction in cell division. Describe the stages of each type of cell reproduction process from a normal patient whose body cells can repair themselves and normal cell division during the reproductive development of the unborn baby. Explain the disadvantages and advantages of each type of cell division. Discuss how the patient experiencing problems with the cells repairing from the cut and the child's reproduction development malfunctions can alter haploid and diploid cell development.

    Cell divides itself in two ways: Mitosis and Meiosis.

    Explanation:

    The cell divides itself in two ways:

    1. Mitosis: In this type of cell division, the DNA and number of chromosomes of the daughter cell remain same as the parent cell. Mitosis takes place when part of the body gets injured and this process repairs it. It leads to cloning of same types of cells again and again as identical cells are produced. Thus, there is no diversity in this case of cell division.

    There are different stages of mitosis:

    a. Prophase, in which chromosome starts to condense.

    b. Metaphase

    c. Anaphase, in which the chromosomes of sister chromatids gets separated and move towards opposite poles.

    d. Thus, in the Telophase phase, nuclear membrane re-appear and the cells divide.

    2. Meiosis: In this type of cell reproduction, the number of chromosomes of daughter cells and DNA are half than the mother cell. This type is required during sexual reproduction to reduce the number of chromosomes to half. This type of cell division provides diversity in genes. But is a complex process as compared to Mitosis.

    Meiosis takes place in two stages and they are:

    Meiosis has two stages Meiosis I and Meiosis II.

    Meiosis I will form two daughter cells.

    a. Prophase I

    b. Metaphase I

    c. Anaphase I

    d. Telophase I

    Meiosis II will form four daughter cells with single set or 'haploid' number of chromosomes.

    a. Prophase II

    b. Metaphase II

    c. Anaphase II

    d. Telophase II

    In the given scenario, if mother is having a problem related to cell division, it is possible that the child would have the same. There could be non-disjunction of chromosomes which lead to improper development of child, physically or mentally.
