The layer of the skin that provides nutrition to the epidermis is the Dermis. The skin is made up of three major parts; the epidermis which is the outermost of the skin, provides a waterproof barrier and creates the skin tone. The dermis is beneath the epidermis, contains tough connective tissue, hair follicles, and sweat glands. And lastly the deeper subcutaneous tissue or the hypodermis which is made of fat and connective tissue.
