This ability aids in creation of passive immunity in that new born individual who absorbs immunoglobulins via colostral milk. If ability to absorb intact protein is lost by intestines and the individual is not given colostral milk then there are great chances of dying of that individual because it would not gain passive immunization and would develop infection.
