    Answer: Transcription transforms the DNA strand into an RNA strand in preparation for protein synthesis, but DNA replication just makes another copy of DNA. For transcription, adenine gets converted to uracil, and the double stranded DNA turns into single-stranded RNA. In replication, adenine is converted to thymine, and it stays double-stranded.
