    Answer: A mistake in transcription process will produce an mRNA with an altered nucleotide sequence and consequently lead to the synthesis of nonfunctional protein that will lead to the manifestation of entirely different trait in the organism.

    Explanation: A mistake in transcription result in a mutation. Mutations are permanent alteration in the DNA sequence of an organism. When a mistake occurs in transcription, an mRNA strand with an altered nucleotide sequence will be produced and this will lead to the production of a protein with an altered amino acid sequence. The protein with an altered amino acid sequence will be nonfunctional because a protein amino acid sequence determines it's function, and this loss of function will manifest outwardly in the organism as a different trait from the one provided by the original protein.
