Dominant trait is the trait which is expressed in the F1 generation and in the next generations. The characters that is expressed in the phenotype is known as dominant.

The characters which is not expressed in the F1 generation is known as recessive characteristics.

If a cross is made between the Tall (TT) and short plant (tt) then the F1 generation will have all the four plants as tall plant (Tt).

In this case the dominant trait is tallness and the dwarfness is recessive trait.
