    Explanation: A homologous chromosome is a pair of chromosome inherited by an organism from its parents, one from the mother while the other from the father. A homologous chromosome is a pair of chromosome that is of the same length and usually found on the same locus. During fertilization, an organism inherits one chromosome from each parent and the two parental chromosomes forms a pair, resulting in an organism with a diploid number of chromosomes.

    Diploid eukaryotic cell is formed when half number of chromosome which comes from the male organism combine with half number of chromosome from female organism. The diploid cell which is formed from the combination of two haploid cell. This diploid cell is called zygote. This zygote turn into an organism.
