Why do astronauts go. to space?

To calculate were astroids are going to hit or if ur talking about the moon they wanted to see how it formed and if it suported life

They go to discover new things about our Earth and the universe. they look for ways to travel to other planets and document movements. they go to fix the space station sometimes and also to run trials. they do different experiments and collect samples from the moon to see if they can discover life on other planets.
