Rocks are technically born from when tectonic plates collide during seismic activity which causes it to create a mountain. External forces such as wind, water, erosion, human interaction, are what cause pieces of this mountain to fall off and create rocks. This is also how they are transformed to create something as beautiful as the grand canyon all the way to perfectly smooth rocks.
