Angiosperms vs. Gymnosperms. Angiosperms, also called flowering plants, have seeds that are enclosed within an ovary (usually a fruit), while gymnosperms have no flowers or fruits, and have unenclosed or "naked" seeds on the surface of scales or leaves. Gy nosperm seeds are often configured as cones.

Though angiosperms and gymnosperms are both seed-producing plants of the Embryophyta subkingdom, they share many more differences than similarities. The most significant regards seed development. While angiosperms produce seeds within an enclosure, the seeds of gymnosperms are not enclosed.
