    elastic fiber

    Explanation:

The genetic disorder affects the elastic fibre that is made of elastic microfibril, which is an important part of the connective tissue. These fibres are responsible for strength, support and elasticity of vital parts of the body such as heart valves, tendons, blood vessels etc.

This genetic disorder which is inherited is characterized by the loss of strength of the connective tissue when the formation of elastic fiber is affected. This abnormal chemical makeup causes the Marfan syndrome, which affects the eyes, skin, bones, nervous system and the heart.
