Correct. Oceans are composed of Seawater and are at a colder temperature, which means only life forms who are adept in living in salted water and colder temperatures would survive. Also oceans are constantly moving and have a much larger ecosystem which means more dangers for any living organism.

Lakes are usually at a higher temperature, consist of fresh mountain water and are smaller in comparison.
