If a woman's egg does not become fertilized, her body will begin to shed off the uterine lining, this is called endometrium, and is part of the overall menstruation process. For most women a typical menstrual cycle will last 28 days. The cycle begins on day one of a period and continues until day one of her next menstrual cycle. On average, most women ovulate on the fourteenth day.
