The earliest animals on earth probably arose from colonial protists, so what does the body plan of the sponges suggest?

    The plan of the sponges suggests that, if animals did arise from colonial protists, that they can and will evolve into animals again in the future. Since protists are grouped in a colony and combine to make one organism, there is a possibility of endless capabilities out there for different and new animals that could potentially become a realization.
