What has happened to the endosperm that formed in the embryo sac?

    The endosperm is formed together with the embryo in the embryo sac during fertilization, but in a separate fertilization. It serves as a food for reserve for the embryo. It contains starch that enzymes in the seeds can break down so the embryo can be nourished.
