    The answer is that there will be a loss of biodiversity as habitats are destroyed. An example are the Galapagos finches that live on the Galapagos islands. Due to frequent natural disasters, the one class of that type of bird got divided into several groups on separate islands. As a result, many of those mammals died, leaving a select few to be able to mate and pass their genes, making the gene pool smaller.
