Aerobic respiration is a process of production of cellular energy. The oxygen is utilized from the environment in this process. The oxygen is used to break down metabolic source of energy in the form of glucose and energy is released in the form of ATP.

If an organism is capable of aerobic respiration then in the presence of glucose as well as oxygen the organism will survive. But in the absence of oxygen the cellular respiration process will get slow down and will stop. Arsenate and cyanide are the poisons which blocks the supply of oxygen to the brain and other organs of the body thus the aerobic respiration process will ceased in the organism.
