    A population observing Hardy Weinberg equilibrium although practically impossible will undergo no change and will plateau out after a period of time in diversity and population size as all external factors are kept constant.

    The Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium states that the allele and genotype in a generation remains constant from generation to the next in the absence of other evolutionary influences. Examples of these are c ertain flightless beetles that have wings and have no function.
