At times, the only fossil remains of a dinosaur biped are its footprints. Scientists use footprints to estimate the dinosaur's size. In bipeds, the footprint length is about one quarter to one fifth the length of the dinosaur's leg. If the track of a three-toed dinosaur measures 30 cm in length, estimate the range of the height of the dinosaur at the joint where the leg meets the hip.
