    Receptors can be described as proteins which are specific to different molecules called signaling molecules. For a cell to respond to any changes, it should be able to receive and progress signals.

    For example, dopamine will be recognized by a dopamine receptor.

    When a receptor recognizes and binds the signal molecule, conformational changes are made init which will initiate response.
