Ribosomes are found in prokaryotes, eukaryotes and archaea, with only small differences among them. Basically, eukaryotes ribosomes are bigger and more complex, however, prokaryotes and archaea have ribosomes as well.

    All living things need ribosomes, they are the ones that do the translation of the RNA to form proteins which are essential for the cell to live and to reproduce. Without them the cell will accumulate damage and die in a short period of time due to the fact that it lacks proteins that can act as enzymes, carriers, support of a structure, messengers, etc. In other words, Proteins are of vital importance for the cell and if there is no ribosome that can join the amino acids according to the mRNA sequence there will not be proteins.
