The enzyme that catalyzes the elongation of DNA is called DNA polymerase. DNA polymerase synthesizes DNA molecules from deoxyribonucleotides which are the building blocks of DNA. This enzyme is very important to DNA elongation and it works by creating two pairs of identical DNA strands from from a single strand of the parent DNA.
