Due to the formation of many industries, the pH of the oceans has decreased from 8.2 to 8.1. Scientists have made assumptions that the pH will drop another 0.3 to 0.4 units by the end of the century.

In percentage values, scientists have observed that the pH value of oceans has become acidic by 30 per cent since the industrial revolution and scientists believe that that the acidity of the ocean might rise by 100 per cent or even more than that.
