    Short term complications of diabetes: hypoglycemia, diabetic ketoacidosis, hyperosmolar glycemic state

    Long term complications of diabetes: damage to eyes (retinopathy), cardiovascular diseases, damage to nerves and feet (neuropathy) and damage to kidneys (nephropathy)
