The bread mold is a saprophyte because it feeds on the dead and decaying matter for deriving energy from them.

The bread contains glucose and molds feed on them for their energy needs.

These organism release enzymes out of the body and makes the food soluble which is taken by the mold or we can say absorbed by the mold.

It feeds on the dark damp places, decaying matter and soil. So, the bread molds are considered as the saprophytic in nature.
