The nurse should suspend the administration of the medicine and notify the Health Care Provider of the client’s allergy to penicillin so he or she changes the medication for one which makes the same effect to the afection and not cause a dangerous reaction to the patient.

The nurse should tell the health care provider about the client's allergy to penicillin. This will make that the health care provider is more careful when prescribing medication and the health care provider may also put the info in the client's medical file to prevent others from mistakenly giving the client penicillin. If the nurse takes this action she will protect the client from potential dangerous situations.
