New research is using functional MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), a scan of the brain that highlights specific areas of the brain that are used during certain tasks, such as taking a lie detector test. Explain which area (s) of the brain you think might light up to show that you are telling a lie or telling the truth. Explain your reasoning.

    The frontal lobe and the medulla oblongata

    Explanation:

    The frontal lobe because it is devoted to action of reasoning or Prefrontal Synthesis.

    The medulla oblongata contains the cardiac, respiratory, vomiting and vasomotor centers and therefore deals with the autonomic functions of breathing, heart rate and blood pressure. So if you are telling a lie your heart rate will increase and therefore that zone might light up
