From smallest to largest: Carbon, monosaccharide and then carbohydrate.

Smallest is carbon, which is the basic unit or the one of the basic elements which form carbohydrate and monosaccharides. Second is monosaccharide which is a single unit of sugar and can also be called as the monomer. When several units of monosaccharides link with each other via bonds, they form the polymer, which is known as carbohydrate.
