There are some greenhouse gases that are found naturally in the atmosphere such as carbon dioxide, methane, and water vapor. There are also greenhouse gases that are not found naturally; they are released from anthropogenic sources only. Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) are greenhouse gases that also contribute to ozone depletion. Although these chemicals have been banned, they will continue to remain in the atmosphere for many more years. Which anthropogenic sources contributed to CFCs being released into the atmosphere?

A) CFCs are released naturally in Earth's processes.

B) CFCs were released from refrigerants, solvents, and aerosols.

C) CFCs were released from agriculture production and livestock.

D) CFCs were released from deforestation and burning fossil fuels.

    b) CFCs were released from refrigerants, solvents and aerosols.

    Explanation:

CFCs are also known as chlorofluorocarbons - they are made up of chemical elements like fluorine, carbon and chlorine. When released in the atmosphere, they are highly responsible for the depletion of ozone layer. CFCs is used as refrigerants in ACs and refrigerator. During the appliance disposal or any sudden leaks the CFCs are released in the atmosphere, thus damaging the environment. The usage of CFCs as independent solvents and in manufacturing of aerosols sprays is also very harmful for the environment.
