What kind of receptors detect pain warmth and cold?

    Receptors for pain and temperature are known as nociceptors (pain) and thermoreceptors (temperature). Those are types of cutaneous sensory receptors because of their location in the dermis or epidermis. Nociceptors and thermoreceptors are free nerve endings which differ in the diameter.
