    Plasmolysis is the process by which a living cell become shrink up when water flows out of the cell. Water usually flow out of the cell when a living cell is placed in a solution that has a greater percentage of salt than is present inside the cell. If an egg is placed inside a solution of salt water, water will flow out of the egg through osmosis and it will shrink.
