A gamete is all sex cells in general. A gamete could be sperm and egg, not together. A zygote is a fertilized female egg cell.

A gamate is a sex cell, or the cell which has genetic information neccessary for reproduction. The male gamate is sperm while the male gamate is egg.

When the male gamates enter oviduct, they fertilise the egg. A fertlised egg is called zygote. It is from zygote that development of embryo begins.
