If the epiglottis fails to close correctly, a person may choke. The epiglottis is a leaf-shaped flap made of elastic cartilage that covers the opening of the larynx and prevents food or liquids from entering it.

Chocking may occur if the epiglottis fails to close, allowing food or liquids to enter the airway.

Estrogen is the hormone that is responsible for wider hips and other sexual characteristics. Although men also have some estrogen, this hormone is much higher in women.
