    Most CNS neurons lack centrioles. This observation explains that these neurons cannot divide and regenerate the damaged nervous tissue in which they are present.

    Centrioles are organelles present in animal cells that form the spindle apparatus during the cell division. Spindle apparatus is responsible for separating the sister chromatids and pulling them to different poles. Absence of spindle will not allow karyokinesis.
