The nucleus is covered by the nuclear membrane.

    Description:

    1. Nuclear membrane is double layered.

    2. Nuclear membrane is porous and allows communicate between the nucleoplasm and the cytoplasm of the eukaryotic cell.

    3. The outer layer of the nuclear membrane and the membrane of the endoplasmic reticulum are continuous.

    4. The lumen of the nuclear membrane is also continuous with that of the endoplasmic reticulum.

    5. Proteins lines the pores of the nuclear membrane.

    Functions:

    1. Nuclear membrane allows the exchange of materials between the nucleoplasm and the cytoplasm via the pores.

    2. Protect and encloses the nucleus and it's contents (nucleolus, chromatin, nucleoplasm).
