Separation of sister chromatids and centromeres.

The phase of alignment of chromosomes along the equatorial plate is called metaphase. Once chromosomes have been aligned in the correct orientation, then cell enters the stage of anaphase. In this, sister chromatids are pulled apart to separate poles of the cell along with centromeres by contraction of spindle microtubule.
