Acromegaly is a condition, in which the body of the fully grown adults, mostly the middle aged ones continues to grow. In this condition, the size of the feet, bones, hands, cranium and the body increase abnormally.

This condition is mainly caused by the overproduction of the growth hormone from the pituitary gland. This overproduction of growth hormone can be due to the presence of the non cancerous tumor in pituitary. That is why, his doctor suggests irradiation of pituitary.
