Which statement regarding the urea cycle is false? One of the 20 common amino acids is an intermediate in the cycle. Part of the cycle occurs in the mitochondria and part in the cytosol. One of the 20 common amino acids acts as a nitrogen donor to the cycle. Under physiological conditions, only two of the steps of the cycle are reversible.

    Part of the cycle occurs in the mitochondria and part in the cytosol. These are the locations of cellular respiration. Urea cycle occurs primarily in the liver, but also in the kidney too. Ornithine, arginine are part of the 20 Aa involved in urea cycle.

    Its primary function is to produce urea from NH3, to reduce it toxicity.
