4. How might similarities and differences in genetic codes, or the proteins built as a result of these codes, be used to determine how closely related different species are?

    It depends on the DNA that is compared to another species to decide if the species are related or not. Like the human and the rhesus monkey they are very related because all of the genetic codes have the same DNA except for one.
