The answer is "So much clotting takes place that there are no available clotting components left and bleeding ensues."

Disseminated intravascular coagulation (dic) it begins with excessive clotting which happens due to some infection which could have been caused by some external agent in blood or due to complication during birth this causes the body to exhaust its clotting agent at one place while bleeding happens
