Suppose 64% of a remote mountain village can taste phenylthiocarbamide (ptc) and must, therefore, have at least one copy of the dominant ptc taster allele. if this population conforms to hardy-weinberg equilibrium for this gene, what percentage of the population must be heterozygous for this trait?

Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium states that in the absence of distributing factors there won't be any changes in the genetics from one generation to another. Since this case with the population conforms to the equilibrium the percentage of the population that must be heterozygous for this trait is 0.48 that is 48%.
