Approximately how many ml of air does a normal, healthy adult inhale and exhale each minute?

    Also referred to a tidal volume, the amount of air that a normal healthy human inhales and exhales is 500 ml. However, the Total Lung Capacity (the amount of air that the lungs can hold) is 5 liters. Additionally, during exhalation, air is never totally evacuated from the lungs. The ampunt of air that remaisn is called residual volume of about 1200ml.
