    The repressor protein is an example of a gene product encoded by a regulatory gene. A repressor is a deoxyribonucleic acid or ribonucleic acid binding protein that prevents the appearance of one or more genes by binding to the operator or related silencers. A deoxyribonucleic acid binding repressor prevents the connection of ribonucleic acid polymerase to the advocate thus avoiding transcript of the genes into messenger ribonucleic acid.
