In pea plants, purple flower color (P) is

dominant over white flower color (p). Use a

Punnett square to predict the phenotypes

and genotypes of a cross between pea plant

homozygous

for

purple flower color and a pea

plant homozygous for white flower color. If

two plants from the F1 generation are crossed,

what genotypes and phenotypes are expected

in the F2 generation?

    1. all offspring will be heterozygous, so they will all inherit the dominant trait of purple flowers

    2. half of the offspring will be heterozygous dominant, a quarter of the offspring will be homozygous dominant, and the last quarter will be homozygous recessive.
