Table sugar solution will test negative for reducing sugars. Table sugar also known as sucrose is a combination of glucose and fructose joined together by glycosidic bonds in such a way that glucose is prevented from isomerizing to aldehyde and fructose is hindered from forming its ketone form, which means that the sugar can not be reduced to other forms. Thus, sucrose is a non-reducing sugar which tests negative to Benedict's solution.
