Chromosomes carry the encoded genetic information of the plant on them.
They are responsible for regulating metabolic processes within the cell (and plant) as well as cell division and the replication of the plant through sexual reproduction (formation of sex cells through meiosis) and vegetative reproduction (through mitosis).
